Johnny Wu

A native Clevelander raised in Central America, Johnny Wu is, a veteran award-winning filmmaker with an MBA (from Cleveland State University)with a specialization in branding. Johnny has made visual art into reality for businesses and independent filmmaking since 1998. He is well known and respected within the Asian Pacific American community in Ohio, and has co-founded the Cleveland Asian Festival, as well as recognized by ethnic cultural groups as the Producer for Cleveland Cultural Gardens’ One World Day since 2015.

Wu is one of the few pioneers in developing talent in Cleveland’s independent film community. In October 2003, he founded the monthly Cleveland IndieClub, which provides a voice for local visual artists to showcase their work and vision.

Wu currently sits as an executive board member of St. Clair Superior Development Corp, member of the International Task Force for Cleveland Museum of Art, WKYC Community Council Member, City of Cleveland Consumer Affairs Community Board, VP of Organizations Relation for OCA Cleveland Chapter, Board member with Cleveland Council of World Affairs, to name a few. He is an inductee to two Martial Arts Hall of Fames, and an inductee of the International Indie Filmmakers Hall of Fame.

Wu’s goal is to provide visual entertainment that challenges himself to become a better filmmaker. His latest success T.R.A.C.E., a web series, has garnered worldwide attention, which has resulted in him being asked to give talks at several Wizard World Comic Con Conventions. His current feature film Innerself, a Martial Arts Comedy Musical, recently had a sold out VIP screening on May 12 at Atlas Cinemas Lakeshore 7’s 400-seat theater. The movie is currently at Cannes Film Market for distribution acquisition.

Wu currently is in post-production of a 20-minute Spider-Man Fan Film called Parker A Spider-Verse (now in post production) and is in pre-production for a Winter Soldier Fan Film, Wu Xia 2  The Code a feature film (now in post production) and a documentary about Cultural Appropriation.
