Winning Poster Design for Cleveland Asian Festival

For Immediate Release

May 6, 2019

Cleveland, OH – Since inception ten years ago, the Cleveland Asian Festival (CAF) has relied on volunteer leadership and community talent.  Along these lines, the Cleveland Asian Festival issued an open call for artists to submit a poster design for the 10th Annual Cleveland Asian Festival May 18 & 19, 2019.  This contest gave an opportunity for a new or emerging artist in the region to contribute to a volunteer-powered festival that promotes Asian culture, diversity, and awareness of Cleveland’s AsiaTown neighborhood.

The CAF leadership would like to congratulate Hien Tran Nguyen for winning the 2019 Cleveland Asian Festival Poster Design Competition!

Hien said “I had seen amazing performances from CAF in the past and I’d always thought that maybe one day, I’ll be able to contribute my talent to the event. I can’t dance or play musical instruments like other contributors, so when my sister told me about the design competition, I jumped on board right away. It was definitely a great experience and I was thrilled to be chosen this year!”

The winning design is a colorful creation that features an Asian stringed instrument along with a prominent “10” to honor the 10th anniversary of the Festival.

Though young (26) Hien Nguyen is an experienced Graphic Designer with outstanding skills in Branding, Digital Marketing and Print. Hien has been serving both national and international clients since 2013.

Hien credits the Cleveland Asian Festival with making “a huge impact on local community and visitors. CAF has played a major role as a unique cultural activity in helping bring attention and recognition to the city of Cleveland’s mission of welcoming and diversity.”
