11th Annual Cleveland Asian Festival

Cleveland, OH – The Cleveland Asian Festival (CAF) is a grassroots festival that highlights Cleveland’s AsiaTown, Diversity, and Asian Culture in Northeast Ohio. It was organized 11 years ago by volunteer community leaders to celebrate Cleveland’s diversity and Asian Pacific American Heritage month (May). The 2020 CAF will be held Saturday-Sunday May 16-17, 2020 on Payne Ave. from East 27th to East 30th streets.
The mission of CAF has remained the same over the years:
- Strengthening the identity of AsiaTown and supporting its economic growth
- Educating and promoting Asian culture and traditions
- Celebrating Asian Pacific American Heritage Month and Cleveland’s Diversity
- Uniting Cleveland’s Asian Community
Those early goals have evolved into one of the most well-attended, culturally diverse and fun(!) events in Cleveland and NEOhio. Attendees enjoy Free Admission, Free Parking with Free shuttle bus rides to and from the festival, Live entertainment including Cultural Performances and demonstrations on two outdoor stages, a World Marketplace of 100+ vendors and exhibitors, 25+ local restaurants, and caterers offering authentic Asian cuisine, Free tours of AsiaTown on Lolly the Trolley, Free health screenings at the Health Pavilion inside Asia Plaza, Free activities, Free games, an eating contest, Colors of Asia Fashion show, and an Asian Pop Dance Competition.
While it was expected that the Cleveland Asian Festival (CAF) would be a fun event that celebrates diversity and Asian culture in Northeast Ohio, it would have been hard to predict its impact on the resurgence of and growth in Cleveland’s AsiaTown community.
The 35,000 to 50,000 attendees each year have been introduced to a now vibrant AsiaTown in Cleveland by CAF. Surveys show that these attendees return to AsiaTown throughout the year making it a popular destination for dining, shopping and fun year-round.
Johnny Wu, one of three CAF founders, says “The Cleveland Asian Festival has been an economic engine for AsiaTown with millions of dollars spent in the neighborhood.”

About the 2020 Cleveland Asian Festival
The Cleveland Asian Festival is an annual celebration of Asian Pacific American Heritage month in May in Cleveland’s AsiaTown neighborhood. The Cleveland Asian Festival is a landmark undertaking to unite the community through collaboration and recognition of its culture, diversity, and people.
The 2020 Cleveland Asian Festival will be held May 16 and 17, 2020 from 11am to 7pm on Payne Ave. between E. 30th St & E. 27th S. Admission and parking are free. Rain or Shine. No Pets.
